Take Me Back..

Lord help the people if a Spice Girls song comes on. I am that person in the store who sings along to the tunes and ,sometimes, I may even bust out a jig or two.  { I may have forgotten to tell you I'm the 6th member of SG!}

There is nothing that can take me back like a song.

When I hear any Alanis Morissette, Jewel, Tracy Chapman, Dave Mathews, or Goo Goo Dolls I think of cassettes and family days. Makes me have a warm fuzzy wuzzy feeling. {My ma' has good taste in music}

I can remember things to a T when certain songs come on like the smells, what I was wearing, who I was with, if I was happy or sad, all the emotions come RUSHING back for that 3 and half minutes.

I think thats the closest Ill ever come to time travel.

What songs take you back? What'd you grow up grooving to?

{by the way my students are like "what are cassettes?"-they're about to be schooled!}

Memory you won the giveaway! I'll contact you today

  10. I couldn't agree more. I think that songs tell the stories of our lives. One of my first memories of music is my mom rocking me to sleep to Neil Diamond...not a cassette, but a record. ;)

  25. Ok I have to admit any time spice girls comes on (I mean I might have some downloaded on my ipod) I turn it up and sing at the top of my lungs. I mean they were the shizzz back in the day.
    I also have to admit...I still own their movie and just might have went to see them in concert.
    Do you think they ever look back and say, "what the heck was I thinking"??

  26. Seriously, I am incredibly happy that SOMEONE is schooling our children on cassettes and the like! They have no clue...Ps. This song totally took me back. We formed a "Spice Girls" group in Middle school and it was PRICELESS. Haha

  27. I'm 33 so I grew up with NoDoubt, Pearl Jam, ya know all of those. But, my mom was always in control of the radio and she was a huge fan of the eighties. So, The Police, Phil Collins, and Wham are big memory blasts from the pasts and so I love this music too. She also loved Fleetwood Mac and all that goes along with that genre too. So, wouldn't ya know, I love this stuff too. Take care,

    Shauna

  43. I have the same feeling! Nothing works as well as songs and smells when you want to remember a situation from the past in details.
    For me it's Spice Girls and Abba (hence my tears every time I watch "mamma mia" ;)
